This unique shelter event is designed to raise both funds and awareness for Home Free Haven’s Winter Shelter Program. This is your opportunity to briefly step into the lives of those we serve and experience what it’s like to seek shelter with Home Free Haven.
Participants will go through the same intake process as our guests, with personal belongings limited to 1 backpack per person. You’ll be provided with dinner and breakfast and sleep on cots, just as our guests do!
To join, each participant is expected to raise a minimum of $100 to cover their overnight stay, with additional incentives for going above and beyond such as our home free t-shirts, home free candles, and a grand prize for the individual who raises the most funds!
This night will offer both empathy and insight as we take a deep dive into the shelter experience of our neighbors facing homelessness. Your participation directly supports our mission to provide shelter, support, and hope to our unhoused neighbors across the Shoals. 💚

Anyone that meets the following requirements can be a guest of The Home Free Experience:
Guests of The Home Free Experience must be at least 16 years of age. For any guests under the age of 19, a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian to participate.
Home Free Haven is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Florence, AL.
Home Free Haven’s mission is to provide shelter, support, and hope to the unhoused and underserved individuals of the Shoals.
Home Free Haven offers programs and services to the Shoals throughout the year. The largest of these programs is our Winter Shelter Program. From November 15 – March 15, we will take our guests to the facilities of our church partners to provide shelter, rest, nourishment, essential supplies, resource connections, and so much more.
As a growing organization currently offering the only year-round series of programs and services specifically focused on those experiencing homelessness, we will always be in need of financial support, volunteers, and essential supplies.
